Ali Ashraf, MD
Dr. Ali Ashraf is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, shoulder arthroplasty, and treatment of general orthopaedic injuries. He was raised in Garland, Texas and attended North Garland High School. After graduation, he attended the University of Texas in Austin where he graduated with a B.S in Biology. Dr. Ashraf attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. After medical school, he spent a year at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota doing research in orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Ashraf went back to Texas Tech for his orthopaedic surgery residency. During residency he was named resident of the month, safe surgeon of the month, and served as a chief resident. Following residency, he attended the Lenox Hill Hospital orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship. There, he learned the latest in minimally invasive arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He also had the opportunity to take care of athletes in high school and college, participate in the evaluation of athletes in the NFL Combine, as well as be involved in the care of professional athletes with the New York Jets and the New York Islanders. Dr. Ashraf is married to Dr. Momal “Momi” Umrani, a pediatric dentist in the area. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends, watch the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns, and discover new places to eat in the metroplex.
